Our Training Philosophy
At Clickstart, we believe how your dog is trained is just as important as the results. That’s why we’re fully transparent about our methods.
We make the science behind our training simple and accessible through various forms of positive reinforcement — helping you build a strong, trusting bond with your dog.

The dog training industry can be confusing and full of conflicting advice. At Clickstart, we choose to follow LIFE (Least Inhibitive, Functionally Effective) principles, backed by the leading experts in animal behavior. We’re dedicated to finding a solution to any problem without the use of fear, force, pain, or intimidation — meaning no prong collars, choke chains, or electric shock collars.
-
Our training plans follow the Humane Hierarchy, a comprehensive approach that considers your dog’s overall health, living environment, learning history, and behavior. We often use fun ‘mark-and-reward’ techniques – like clicker training – to make learning quicker, clearer, and more enjoyable for you and your dog. Although clickers aren’t required for our training programs, the principles behind it can help your dog pick up new skills more easily.
-
We meet pet parents and their dogs where they are and take a personalized, collaborative approach to training that honors each dog’s unique personality. We strongly believe that fun and freedom can coexist with high standards of training.
