Trainer Qualifications
Kate Uruchurtu, CPDT-KA, FPPE, FDM (she/her) is the founder and trainer of Calmer Canines LLC. Since 2007, she has worked with over 1,000 puppies/dogs with a variety of behavior issues. She starting working with reactive dogs in 2009, but began focusing more on families with children when she became a member trainer with The Family Dog® in 2016. Her proudest achievement was becoming a Licensed Family Paws® Parent Educator in 2018, just in time for the birth of her son. Since then, she has worked primarily with families from pregnancy and adoption through teenagehood. Kate is also a Dial Guide through The Family Dog® and a certified Family Dog Mediator. Through a combination of all of these programs as well as her unique experience as a neurodivergent mom with a neurodivergent kiddo, and also as a loss mom, she finds creative ways to meet the needs of both the family and of the dog, so that the whole family feels safe and secure, together.
